Drama Queen / 20 weeks / Another issue / Names

Drama Queen

Baby boy likes to hang out on my upper right side. He's CHILL.  Kicks here and there.  I can lay down on my right side. No problems, no complaints.  He's enjoying his stay.

Baby girl on the other hand.... dear heavens. She is already all about some drama.  :)  She stays on my lower left side.  The very second that I roll over at night onto "her" side, she starts having a kicking fit.  Pretty sure I've heard her yell "GET OFF ME!! I CAN'T BREATHE!! HELP!!"  Same thing if I bend over to pick something up. She immediately kicks the mess out of me to STOP squishing her!!  ... What can I say though?? She gets it honestly.  The husband is scared.

20 weeks

Went to the doctor today.  I am 20 weeks, but my belly measures 27 weeks.  With Sam, I was right on the mark. i.e.: 20 weeks, measured 20 weeks. She said with twins, you usually measure 5-6 weeks ahead.  This time I measured 7 wks ahead, last time 8 wks ahead.  But who's counting?

20 weeks pregnant w/ twins

The pic is a little fuzzy, but the lighting wasn't that great.  Oh well.

By 20 weeks, I was technically supposed to gain 20lbs.  That didn't happen because I was so sick the first trimester.  But, I did gain about 13, so I am consistently gaining 1.5-2lbs per week. With multiples, the more you gain at the beginning, the faster the babies will grow and the less chance you have of going into preterm labor.  Totally different mindset than my 1st pregnancy.  The book I'm reading is very well researched.  Any time I google a question, I usually find an answer that directs back to this book or the author.

Another Lil Issue

Last time, I mentioned that the placenta previa corrected itself.  (Yay! Thank you, God!)  This time, my midwife said that after looking at the ultrasound I had last week, they were watching baby girl's brain for bilateral choroid plexus cyst.  (Say, what??)  Luckily it is within normal range, just the very upper part of that range.  They will send me to have a specialist do an ultrasound at the hospital in a couple weeks to make sure it hasn't gotten any bigger.  Believe it or not, I'm not flippin' out about this possible issue either.  Maybe it's all the people that are praying for my babies every day.  I just feel at peace that everything will be ok.  I'll still pray for them... but I'm not stressing myself out and "googling" everything.

Names

"Do you have names picked out?"  Pretty sure I get that question about every day.  haha  The answer is 'no'.  But, we did decide that once we do pick out names, we will keep them a secret until the babies are born.  Why?  Because we are so stinkin' indecisive!

Thing 1 & Thing 2 are PINK and BLUE / 19 week comparison / Other updates

Thing 1 and Thing 2 are PINK and BLUE

Ok, actually .... Baby A is a boy and Baby B is a girl. But, that doesn't rhyme, now does it?  :)

We found out the genders early at 17weeks by going to a private ultrasound clinic.  This was our Christmas present to each other and a Christmas surprise for our parents!  We put the balloons in a box and wrapped them up.  Although not an original idea, it still caught the parentals off guard.  Fun times!

It's PINK and BLUE! - Christmas Day 2012
Today, we went to the hospital to do the anatomy scan.  I have to admit, I was a little nervous about Baby B still being a girl.  She was being a little difficult at our first ultrasound and they were "pretty sure" she was a girl.  Looks like we still have pink and blue though!  Neither baby wanted to give us a nice profile pic.  Oh well!

Placenta Previa

Good news!  The ultrasonographer and her supervisor both looked for the possible placenta previa (where the placenta is on/next to the cervix) and they could not find it. Yay!  That's one prayer that's been answered. :) Still hoping all goes well so I can have a VBAC with these kiddos.  (Vaginal Birth After C-section)

Sporty SUV to Mommy Soccer Van

Sporty SUV to Mommy Soccer Van

"I will always be an SUV mommy.  If I need a 3rd row of seating, then I will get an SUV that has a 3rd row.  I will NEVER get a min-van!!"

NEVER. SAY. NEVER.

We tried putting all 3 carseats in my SUV.  They fit... BARELY.  What really bothered me though is the fact that when we closed the doors they would hit the side of the infant carseats. If we got hit, those carseats are RIGHT next to the doors. :/  My SUV had a lot of room in the back, but where the kids would be was super scrunched.

We were going to just 'deal' with it.... but we got the opportunity to do an even trade for a mini-van.  Hmmmmmm... There is no way we could do an even trade for a nice SUV with 3 rows, especially without taking on payments.  In this crazy economy, a car payment is the last thing we want!

So, I started convincing the hubby on why we "neeeeeded" to trade the cars.  After test-driving it, he agreed it would be a good decision. I was excited. :)

BUT... when it came time to hand over the keys to my SUV, my preggo hormones got the best of me.  I'm pretty sure that every salesman in the lot stopped and starred at this crazy lady bawling her eyes out who wouldn't turn over her keys!  It was so embarrassing, but I could not control it!!  We can laugh about it now... although I wasn't laughing at the time.  Ha

I finally gave him my keys and went to sign the paperwork.  The guys found a stack of Hardee's napkins and gave them to me.

As I drove off the lot, guess what followed me almost ALL the way home??  An SUV EXACTLY like the one I traded in!!  Same color and everything.  I may have yelled at the lady "Stop tormenting me!!"  ... but I don't really remember. ;)

Now that the hormones have gone away (for the time being), I am really glad again that we got the mommy-van.  Little man loves it and it will be much easier when Thing 1 and Thing 2 get here.

Fighting in the Womb / Possible Placenta Previa

Fighting in the Womb

I went to the doctor to check on Baby A and B today.  (I'm 16.5wks along, but measuring 24wks.)  Boy, are they active!  The nurse can distinguish the babies heartbeats much faster if she does an ultrasound.  It's not the greatest quality machine that they use, which is why for most of my ultrasounds they send me to the hospital.

Anyway, as soon as the babies show up on the screen, we see Baby B pull its legs up to its chest... then shoot its legs straight out, kicking Baby A in the booty.  It was hilarious!  Although at the same time I wanted to say, "STOP THAT!!"  hahaha  He/she did it two times in a row.  I wish I had my phone within reach.

I know for sure I have felt them move twice in the past week. It's very faint, but this time I know what to 'look for'.  I didn't feel my son move until 19 weeks.

Possible Placenta Previa

The midwife also told me that they are going to keep a watch on Baby B for placenta previa.  She explained to me that it is when the placenta has grown low in the womb. His/her placenta looks like it is on or very close to the cervix.  Right now, all is good they will just watch it.  But if I have any bleeding, they want me to go straight to the hospital.  Believe it or not, I'm not worried about it.  My God has these little babies in His hands. I'll just say an extra prayer for them at night, and trust that He will take care of the rest.  I'd definitely appreciate any prayers from family/friends as well!  In reference to my previous post, this does confirm that I will NOT be running during this pregnancy.  :)

16 wk comparison

First of all, I am soooo itching to get back to running!!  I wasn't able to run the 1st tri with this pregnancy or my last pregnancy.  The hormone meds I take during the first 12 weeks make me really sick.  I expected it this time. It just kinda comes with the territory. My babies needed it, so of course I kept taking it!  :)  .... But, with my 1st pregnancy, I was able to start running again the beginning of my 2nd trimester.  This time, I'm pretty sure that's NOT going to happen. (For several reasons... I'll spare you the details though. haha)

OK--Here is a comparison of me at 16 weeks with lil man and me at 16 weeks with the twins... Can you tell a difference?  I can probably tell more than other people. :)
