26 Weeks Ultrasound / Pics / H2O Like a Pro

26 Weeks Ultrasound

Today I went for my monthly ultrasound at the hospital to check on Thing 1 and Thing 2.  They are both doing GREAT and are above average right now on their weight.  Praying that they keep it up!!  Their momma sure is eating like every meal is her last. :-O  Trying to eat as healthy as possible though.  I'm also doubling up on my Juice Plus!

Thing 1 -  Baby boy weighs 2lb 8oz

Thing 2 - Baby girl weighs 2lb 2oz

Both babies are currently head down.

The doctor said that she wouldn't be surprised if Baby B (Thing 2) was born 1st.  Normally, Baby A is born 1st b/c its placenta is supposed to be closer to the cervix.  Not only are their placentas right next to each other, but Baby B (Thing 2) has been positioned WAY lower in my uterus the whole pregnancy.  Not a big deal, I just find it interesting.  Rule breakers.

Pics

Here are some pics that melted my  ! They are the 1st 3D pics that don't really look like aliens.  :)

Looks like a basketball is under my shirt.  In a couple months, I'll be sporting a beach ball.

The intense Braxton Hicks contractions that I had pretty much constantly for a little over a week have backed off.  I have SERIOUSLY upped my water intake, and that seems to help a lot.  I mostly drink only water anyway and am continuously sipping it.  However, no more sipping.  Large gulps every few minutes only.  I feel like people can hear me 'slosh' as I waddle around.  Hence why I sat in the cafe at church on Sunday.  Figured 3 bathroom trips during the service would be a little distracting.  Ha  Oh well.  These lil blessings are so worth it!!

25 Week Comparison / Hello Braxton Hicks! / Fighting Kids / Big & Green

25 Week Comparison

Here is a pic of me at 25 weeks with my 1st pregnancy.... (Disregard the lovely skirt. Fashion risk.)

Here's a pic of me at 25 weeks with the twins...

25 weeks with the twins
I think it's kinda hard to tell a difference by looking at the pictures, but my belly is still consistently bigger this go-round.  You can definitely tell with bare belly pics, but no worries- I'll spare you.  :D

Hello Braxton Hicks!

I had some Braxton Hicks contractions off and on w/ my 1st pregnancy.  Mostly towards the end, but not a big deal.  (Not familiar with that term?  Basically it's contractions, but not true labor.  "Practice contractions" as Wikipedia puts it.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braxton_Hicks_contractions )

This time, they have come on strong and often.  The last week, every time I stand up or sit in a chair, my belly tightens up like a basketball and doesn't loosen until I lay down flat.  Good thing:  It does go away once I lay down. Bad thing: Try laying down a lot when you have a 2-year-old climbing up on the kitchen counters every few minutes!  Ya know, just mixing your flour with your sugar. Helping.  :)

Although I was 99% sure it was just Braxton Hicks, I went to my doctor's office just in case.  They confirmed my suspicions. 'Intense braxton hicks.' Whew!  I was not wanting pre-term labor this early!  I'm ok with putting up with the annoying contractions as long as I know it's nothing serious.

Fighting Kids

The doctor did a quick 30 second ultrasound to get Thing 1 & Thing 2's heart rates.  (It's much faster and easier than using the doppler) As soon as she put it to my belly she said "Whoa!!  They're fighting!"  Yep.  The last 3 ultrasounds have shown the kids kicking and throwing punches.  It's the weirdest thing feeling them do it too.

The doctor said that she has delivered twins several times that were bruised from hitting each other in the womb.  Wow.  I'll be shocked if mine don't come out w/ some shiners.  ;)

Big & Green

My 2-year-old was watching me rub cocoa butter on my belly yesterday, when he decided to inform me that it was "BIG and NEEN" (green).  I said, "Green??? Where??"  The precious little one then points to the newly acquired roadmap on the side of my belly and says, "There. Neen!"  Well, thank you child.  It's called transparent skin.  Oh the honesty of a toddler.

Holy Hormones! / Latest Dr Appt / Pics / Toe-tally Happy

Holy Hormones!!

My. Poor. Husband.

I was pretty "normal" with my 1st pregnancy...besides sobbing during the "Midget Adoption Story".  But who wouldn't cry during that??!! ;)

This time around...well... this cartoon sums it up really well.

Also, MAJOR dilemmas like public restrooms being dirty or me not having enough time to go by Starbucks have caused embarrassing meltdowns.  Again, my poor husband.  He has done a great job handling my mood-swings.  A sweet hug and a "There, there"... what more could you ask for?  ;)  Oh, here is the tissue my 2-year-old brought me the other day when he saw me upset:

"Mommy cry? Oh here!!"
Definitely turned my tears to laughter!  He's such a sweetie.  I know that raging hormones just come with the pregnancy territory.  Feels like there's double the hormones too! If I can just make it through May without losing too many friends, I'll be set!

Overall, I'm so thankful to be 5 months along w/o any real problems!!

Latest Dr Appt

I went for my 23-week checkup last Friday.  Here is a pic of my sweet boy in the waiting room being hypnotized by my iPad.

Being a good boy @ Mommy's Appt

As I stepped on the scale, I told the nurse, "Yeah... I've been hungry."  She smiled and said "I see that!"  :/  Hmm.

Midwife said babies seem to be doing well.  Heart rates are good.  I was 23 weeks along, & my belly measured 29 weeks.

Thing 1 and 2 kick all the time. It feels like there's some powerful popcorn being popped in there. Trying to let someone feel them is like playing that game at Chuck E. Cheese's where you hit the mole with the hammer.  Pretty sure they laugh as they do it too.

Pics

I'm 24 weeks today. (5 months along)  Here's what they are supposed to look like:

I haven't taken a pic of this week's belly shot.  But here's a couple of the last 2 weeks.

My sweet momma took me to get a pedicure today.  I'm not big on 'feet' shots, but I thought she did a great job!  Very out of the ordinary for me...
